Shaffer Veterinary Services respects the privacy of everyone who visits our website. This policy explains what information this site collects, why it is collected, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. It does not cover information you give us in person, by phone, or on paper at the hospital.
Information You Give Us
When you complete a form on this site, we receive what you type into it, such as your name, contact details, and any message or pet information you include. We use that information to answer your question, schedule care, or follow up on your request. Our forms run on our own web server rather than an outside form service, and submissions are delivered to our staff. They are not used for any unrelated purpose.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site records basic technical details when a page loads, including the pages viewed, the approximate region a visit came from, the referring website, and the browser and device type. This information tells us which pages are useful and where visitors have trouble. It is not used to identify you personally.
Analytics and Cookies
We use two analytics tools. Matomo is hosted on servers operated by our website provider, which means the measurement data it produces stays with us rather than being shared with an advertising network. We also use Google Tag Manager, which loads Google measurement services such as Google Analytics. Google processes that data under its own privacy policy and may set cookies in your browser.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The ones used here support analytics and normal site function. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers an opt-out for its analytics products. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading this site or submitting a form.
Spam Protection on Our Forms
Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to tell real visitors apart from automated spam. To do that, reCAPTCHA collects information about your browser, device, and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google for scoring. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google privacy policy and terms of service. We see only the result, not the underlying data.
Search Engines
Search engines including Google and Bing crawl public pages on this site so people can find us. We use the free webmaster tools both companies provide, which report the search terms that led visitors here and any technical problems they find. Those reports are aggregate counts and do not identify individual visitors to us.
Search engines operate independently of this hospital. What they collect, and how long they keep it, is governed by their policies rather than ours.
Embedded Content
Some pages include a Google Maps frame so you can find the hospital. Loading that map connects your browser to Google, which may collect data about the request the same way it would if you visited Google Maps directly. We do not receive that information.
Our Pet App and Online Pharmacy
We offer two services that are run by outside companies on their own websites. Our appointment and reminder app is provided by PetDesk, and our online pharmacy store is operated for us by a third-party pet pharmacy provider. Links to both open on their sites, not ours.
Once you leave this website, the information you enter goes to that company rather than to this site. That includes any account you create, the contact details you provide, and any payment information you enter at the pharmacy. We never see or store your payment card details. Each of these companies handles your information under its own privacy policy and terms, which we encourage you to read before creating an account.
We do receive information back from these services in the normal course of caring for your pet, such as an appointment request you submit or a prescription order we need to approve. We treat that information the same way we treat anything else you tell us directly.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent it to advertisers or data brokers. We share information only with the service providers that keep this website, our forms, our app, and our pharmacy running, and only as needed for them to do that work, or when the law requires disclosure.
Your Pet Medical Records
Records created during your pet care are kept separately from this website and are treated as confidential. We release them at your request, to another veterinarian involved in your pet care, or where the law requires it. Nothing you enter on this site is added to a medical record until our staff reviews it.
Children
This site is intended for adults arranging veterinary care and is not directed to children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and Questions
We may update this policy as the site changes or as legal requirements change, and the revised version will be posted on this page. If you have a question about anything described here, or you want to know what information we hold about you, reach us through the contact page on this site.
